I did a facial recognition project in college and my god while I imagine face recognition is better now than 4-5 years ago I imagine it isn't close to perfect. My scenario was a derpy thing for logging into something with your webcam using your face versus a saved image and I had times where my own face didn't even match because of a progressively bushier beard. One guy almost got into my control because the faces were close enough for my percentage threshold. I imagine this uses a huge database of images to "teach" the software what to look for or whatever but even then I wouldn't make a strict determination on it beyond investigating. Shit isn't sophisticated enough especially since some people look generic to others period.
