Counterpoint to your last statement about "no one will watch computers play video games": there's an entire category of speedrunning called Tool Assisted Speedruns (TAS) which is where a computer plays the game. This has been around for years, and is usually included in things like Games Done Quick. Typically TAS playthroughs are faster than humans and include tricks or glitches that humans could never pull off. Really fun to watch!
But yeah, if you just mean an AI literally just playing a game casually and making AI comments here and there, I think you're right that people would prefer humans for that type of game play watching.
