As others have mentioned, we haven't invented AI yet. Another fault in this argument is that these programs do not control us. Humans implement these algorithms, and their decisions can always be appealed and overruled. Even if we did invent an AI on par with what you see in sci-fi it would need a mechanism to interact with the world. A body, or network connection. Nobody developing something that highly proprietary is going to have their data on the larger web
