Not entirely. The company I work for is just responding to RFPs that are put out mainly by governments. To date I've never worked on, heard of, or know of a system that is designed solely for collecting information to build a dossier on someone. Every single system has some pretty reasonable end goal, mainly in improving customer experience, catching criminals or preventing crime. As an example. [Delta](https://news.delta.com/delta-launch-first-biometric-terminal-us) is using it to increase customer experience through their terminal in Atlanta The technology has plenty of good uses to it, and can considerably make our everyday lives simpler/safer, but that doesn't mean it doesn't need regulation. The US needs to adopt strong regulation around the technology and implement proper privacy standards for its citizens. This goes for many things, and not just facial recognition technology.
