I’m a mammographer, the system we use in the hospital I work in, is called CAD- Computer Aided Detection. The radiologist will look at what CAD has “flagged” and assess the area, if the radiologist has any question, he/she will ask for more images or an ultrasound. In my experience CAD hasn’t lead to higher diagnosis. Actually it is self breast exams and annual mammograms! Only you know what you’re breast feel like! If you feel a lump that is there for months, get it checked! Also calcifications, not many women know that calcifications are something Radiologists look for. They are tiny and you will never feel calcifications until they break out of the milk duct and turn to invasive breast cancer. Ladies and male partners of ladies, please check those breasts! And make sure to get your annual mammo and let me check them yearly!!
