Bernie Sanders clearly has not done the research on facial recognition. The algorithm saves the police (and other authorities for that matter) hundreds of hours of work. It finds features similar to the person/s who are wanted then the police receive the images. By only looking at (flagged) images of people 'likely' to be who they are looking for they save hundreds of hours by not going through images of people utterly irrelevant to their search. The algorithm does not have a final say in who or what someone is, the human does. Unless algorithms are missing the guilty person entirely it would be illogical to ban such software.
