Now think of it from the other perspective. Imagine convincing your fellow countrymen to go and die in a war when you had the technology but chose the 'moral option' of not developing machines that could go in their place. Especially if the other side had no such qualms about their deployment. Is it really the moral choice to send your men and women into battle when they could have stayed in relative safety and sent machines in their place? I mean you can argue that with the development of planes, bombs, tanks, guns etc has made war much less personal and much more cold and calculated. Don't really see people calling for us to go back to using swords for moral reasons.
