My take on the matter is that it should be national and international policy to keep autonomous weapons from being deployed by any military. But a [slaughterbots](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CO6M2HsoIA)-style system is going to be developed by someone, somewhere. It is one of those unfortunate dilemmas where the United States and other civil governments needs to be at the forefront of the development of this tech in order to be able to effectively combat it. We need in place a strong national and global effort to ban the use of any such autonomous anti-personnel technology by governments and private entities. But we also need to develop effective defenses if they are nonetheless deployed. We need robots that only kill other robots.
