It's disasterous to the average person. The wealthy don't have a realistic outlook on what it will do to the vast majority of the population. Universal income isn't ever going to be a realistic alternative to people having occupations that provide them with enough income to live a life of reasonable comfort and stability. In 20 something years there will be mass poverty and an inevitable revolt by the middle and lower class citizens against those who benefited from the massive increases in AI functionality. Progress is a fundamental part of human development but only when it doesn't lead to hundreds of millions being rendered obsolete.
