Google wouldn't buy Uber. They'd buy a smaller competitor (fasten, lyft, grab) for the IP then blow it up. Or they'd write their own end user software. As soon as they move into the sphere they'll have enough users to bury Uber. The biggest problem for a company like Uber to move into the driverless sphere is having enough cash to buy or retrofit a fleet of driverless cars. They're going to have to partner with a manufacturer at some point for parts, service and equipment, or bear the brunt of the cost (billions) to get a fleet in major cities.
