Accountability doesn't matter for a debate about *determinism*. It does (obviously) for a debate about moral responsibility. Splitting that question is the core of the compatibilist position. But as long as people automatically conflate the two with completely un-examined statements like: > if free-will doesn't exist, then people aren't accountable for what they do. The "free will debate" is going to continue being a morass of people talking past each other.
