The problem with this is that you don't know anything about the culture of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the East. Coming from that culture, I do not see ANY way to break people from their traditional ways. The issue is that, contrary to popular belief, there's pretty well documented evidence that TCM works. The thing is, though, the way it works is that it's a massive country wide placebo effect. Many of the so called "medicines," treat chronic ailments such as pain, trouble sleeping, digestive distress, etc..., and because so many people believe in it, the placebo effect can works wonders. Then people start spreading around from generation to generation that this stuff actually works, and pretty soon you have an entire culture that relies on placebo based remedies. That's what happened to East Asia, and you can't just educate people out of it, because it's a culture that heavily values anecdotal evidence and word of mouth, even over actual statistics or expert opinion.
It's gotten to such a point where TCM wards are placed in the same hospitals with western medicine wards. Sometimes, Chinese doctors who study modern medicine will even recommend that you go see a TCM doctor, and, no joke, the TCM doctors sometimes have the same level of respect that the western doctors do.
Plus, anything coming from an outsider (me being an Asian that was raised in the US, I experienced this first hand), anything that you tell them, they will just ignore. It's a culture built upon pride, and when you question their ways, they feel as if it's either an outsider attacking them, or that you could not possibly understand their culture. There's a loooot of confirmation bias going around, kind of like what's happening in the political scene in the US, and we know in the US how difficult it is to "educate people" on the issues.
Edit: Welp did not expect this to get gold. Thanks Stranger!
