The wind turbines dropping off (which they do in major wind) was only responsible for a 25 percent increase in demand from the Victorian grid. Real issue was that they were drawing 50 percent of the interconnector's capacity before the incident. Basically they closed their coal fire stations and basically banked on Victoria's to replace them. Blaming renewables in that case was like a soldier being killed because you took away his gun and then blaming the incident on his knife.
