I was driving through Indiana recently, on the nation's shittiest highway, with lanes diving off into the shoulder to get around construction and sharing the road with apparently the entire country's semi truck population. In the dark and having essentially no painted line guidance on the temporary blacktop, I was forced to just do whatever the semi in front of me was doing and hope for the best (mostly that the semi next to me or the semi behind me didn't kill me). I like the idea of self-driving cars, but without some kind of infrastructure to define the road for them, I'm skeptical that they are going to be able to handle even half of that bullshit I went through in Indiana.
