As excited as I am for the idea of one day having self-driving cars, I can't help but wonder/have concern: Would instituting self-driving cars require a complete overhaul of our highway/road systems? Maybe I haven't paid closed enough attention to this topic. I just wonder if/how still having human drivers on the road impacts the viability of implementing self-driving cars. In addition to that, if we were to try and progress to having only self-driving cars would that process be so long and arduous that we never fully get there? Essentially going back to my first line, would our current highway/road systems accommodate that transition or would it require complete overhauls that our government would never be willing to do/pay for? Don't get me wrong, I am **entirely** for the idea of having a self driving car. I just wonder about the inherent hurdles getting there and if they'll prove too arduous in my life time to get there.
