all of the major oil companies (BP included) will survive without question even if there's a worldwide recession. Their stock will go down, they may cut more jobs and investments, but they're in no danger of failing.
The companies that will fail are smaller fracking companies that can't handle their debt. That's a very realistic scenario for this year if trends continue, but it won't be huge companies going out of business.
