There has been talk and a lot of research within the UN organs that works with support for developing nations to limit there climate impact. The train of thought is that 1 dollar invested in the developing world do more good then spending that dollar making for example European factorise pollute less. Out of this another type of support has been created, and that is "Reduced emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD)". Rich nations paying poor nations not to cut down their forests and by not cutting them down limiting the amount of Co2 that is released from the forest and from the degradation of the soil. The incentive for developed nations to invest in reducing pollution in the developing world is that they to some extent get to deduct that drop in emission from their own emissions, making it possible for them self to reach the emissions cuts set within EU or by the UNFCCC. It makes it cheaper for developed nations to cut there emissions and hopeful it helps some of the developing nations modernise their factories and there economies. Edit: there≠their, what can I say... I am a sloppy speller :)
