I pretty much agree with you, but if people are able to decide for themselves then it wouldn't be any more or any less democratic for you to condemn it. I don't really think a person does decide for themselves however, your decision is just affected by others, how you were brought up, and how you were educated. If I was born and raised a different way it's likely I would be against gay-marriage, maybe I'd have changed my opinion later in life, but I might not have. If I was brought up in a true democracy wouldn't it have to have been in a completely unbiased environment? We'll have to settle for this though, if the majority don't agree with gay marriage, so be it, but condemning them and taking steps to perhaps educate or just persuade them to change their minds is fine, as long as it's not forced it's still their decision.
