That’s why they’re working on combining AI (as the “brain”) with robots (as the “body”) which creates a system that can perform nearly any job a human worker can — but faster, cheaper, and without needing rest, pay, or rights. In principle, that could be wonderful: a world where machines handle labour and humans are freed from drudgery. But under capitalism — where ownership and profits are con…

Every AI app or project we’ve tried to launch has ended up a half baked failure…yet we’re told it’s ready replace us 🤔

Agreed. I almost got a felony because a bus driver said I ran it when I didn't. I won in court luckily. It is lame that Waymo and corporations can get off with nothing.

I teach an online university and their first assignment is to introduce themselves and talk about why they’re taking this class. 80% of the discussions were AI generated. It says something about a person who can’t even introduce themselves without resorting to the use of artificial intelligence.

This is what happens when you deregulate AI. Look at EU or even China. You can sue for damages and easily win. * [Before using someone’s personal information, such as their face or voice, you must get their explicit permission. Written consent is standard for the use of deepfakes or biometrics. ](https://www.chinalegalexperts.com/news/china-deep-synthesis-regulation#:~:text=User%20Consent%20%26…

If everything is automated just surround your robot and ammo factory with 20mm turrets against the peasant hordes. Your factories need only metal and coal, both mined by robots, powered and sustained, you next only need to prevent those peasants from taking over, turrets. What else is there to do but sit on your golden throne and watch the world go dark as you prepare to escape on your arc ship…

These aren't tax breaks. These are guarantees that India won't double tax these companies when they have customers in other countries (which may or may not be giving tax breaks to the billionaires). The rest of your comment, I agree with though.

A couple corrections and points of controversy that need to be raised. A correlation above 0.8 is considered strong, above 0.6 is considered moderate. Correlations of 0.56, 0.43, and especially 0.20 are considered weak.  The idea of the work week measured in hours comes from the domination of timework over piecework, something that wouldn't emerge until the second industrial revolution and be…

It's not even really about whether AI can do the work - it's that cutting headcount is the fastest way to juice EPS and the board doesn't care if output drops 25% as long as the cost savings outpace it. The scary part for anyone job searching right now is that this math works even if AI is mediocre. Companies don't need AI to be great. They just need it to be good enough to justify the cut.

I have proof that it's NOT true, what OP is saying. Just made a long top level comment about it but tldr if anthropic isn't giving them a better model than they use for THEMSELVES, then no, no it's a terrible post. Opus 4.6 and codex-5.3-xhigh are both MORE than capable of everything OP listed with Maduro. And we all have access to that for $200/month.

Yep, I remember being 18/19 thinking “I’m not buying a Ford. Those are made by lazy unionized American workers”. By 25, I was pro-union, treeing hugging liberal.

Terrible time for anyone trying to enter the CS market, that’s for sure. The upshot for you however is that you’re (most probably) young enough so you can switch career paths and go into something a little bit more AI proof, hopefully. That’s honestly my sincere advice, I don’t see how CS will ever get back to being a well paying, secure field.

No. There wont. Everyone will be using agents. But there will be tons of jobs to ufuck what bad developers made. Just like there is now. Agents are just a tool. People made plenty of shitty code without ai

This article is obvious paid AI propaganda, paid a little army of bots to keep reposting it should come as a surprise.

I mean, they pay 300k for mid level bruh. I'd hate to work for meta but in this bad market I'd still do it if I for some reason need a job and bombed the rest of my big tech interviews. Beats working for a place paying below 200k lol.

Or because middle class computer work is easier to do than curing cancer? Curing cancer is hard. Filling out spreadsheets and writing sql code is easier, and will be automated first.
