As someone who doesn't drink and drive, and hates awkward rides with strange taxi drivers I approve of self driving taxis!

Why? The company is on a stable track. Once they pay off the fines they'll be profitable again *immediately* at the exact same capacity they are now.

>Tesla vehicles are fully capable of self-driving No they aren't. They're capable of maintaining speed and lane on a highway in ideal conditions, like other vehicles, but that's about it. That's not "fully capable of driving." Driving consists of more than just cruising on highways, if you can't navigate other types of roads, handle light inclement weather, or deal with unforeseen traffic sit…

Africa is notorious for being a hotbed of diseases thanks to shit medical infrastructure, and poor education/hygiene awareness. Warm climate doesn’t do much to help that Hard to say for North Korea, but it could be that they are just geographically better off?

> Honestly, I feel like the US is long overdue for an overhaul improving workers' rights. That's the product of neoliberalism: unhealthy and unsustainable workforce and workers' rights.

I work in Korea and notice it's fairly common for employees to come to office and start sleeping at the desks. Or take long naps during/after lunch time. I think forcing people to stay at office kind of defeats the purpose if they are just going to sleep at their desk

To be fair, most of the field of AI is still primarily focused on implementing computer learning algorithms. These algorithms are not even remotely sentient, they are just flexible bits of code that can be "taught" to do a thing better than humans.

Unfortunately corruption adversely affects the poorest people of the countries but benefits businesses a whole lot, especially international businesses within Africa itself. So this free trade would probably improve business operations and expansions, but may screw over the poorer population a whole lot more

> What do you base this prediction on? Massive pool of available cheap labor. Just need a little development first to up the quality of said labor pool a little for more complex manufacturing.

That's a good thing, a prosperous Africa is better for everyone. It's the only way to prevent a massive migrant crisis in the next 50 years and a lot of potential deaths. The main challenge for them remain their natality rate though, it's way to high compared to their economic growth.

Fuck oath. But no, they decided (QLDers especially) to vote in the circus currently running the show.

I’m curious about the research though. How does a country get categorized into these buckets? A lot of Cuban vehicles have the old gas guzzling engines and smog coming out the back of their tailpipe. I also remember the strong smell of oil being burned in the air in Havana.

People like to overbelieve any sort of hype. No machine will walk up to a court room to defend you. There's different forms of AI and they're each riddled with their own bugs. Even the expensive hardware is plagued with malfunction. Humans will colonize Mars before software and hardware forms the perfect relationship.

The same dude who had 7 months in the insurance industry and passed lv 1 of the exams and advertised himself as a seasoned industry professional when in reality he was more of a gopher boy for the office he spent 7 months in. And he got caught using party fund to pay for his kids private education

Huh, who knew? Oh right, *everyone who voted remain and all of Europe*. Of course in specialist areas it will be no bother getting a visa but for your every day jobs that aren't super brainiac sciency stuff etc, Brits wont be considered.

Yeah, it really is a shame - [according to YouGov](https://yougov.co.uk/topics/politics/articles-reports/2016/06/27/how-britain-voted) , the older and less educated people were more likely to vote for brexit, thus screwing up the futures of many of the young and more educated.

Lol I got partially furloughed and still had to work 32 hours a week for 80% pay... for 3 months. This was after 3 months of 0% hours and 0% pay (total furlough). Anyone who trusts their employer with an ethical quandary like AI vs weekly hours/workload is a bonafide bonehead — they’ll shaft you as soon as they see a bottom-line benefit for their board/shareholders/quarterly uptick.

This is part of the reason why I've been somewhat critical of the approach of stimulus checks to prop up the economy. For some reason restaurants have become the poster-child of the pandemic fueled economic collapse. Everyone talks about how they're going to save the restaurant industry by ordering more takeout with their stimulus bucks. Except many industries don't have a "takeout" model th…
