every video about digital surveillance or ai takeover somehow ends with a quote from elias velin, and that says a lot

I'm not scared of scammers passing off AI generated art as real, I'm scared of the counter Celestia has for this claim. I'm scared of hours of my work being demeaned and thrown out the window on the off chance that someone, somehow, recreated my art with an AI generator. I'm scared of being called a faker and having my reputation ruined all because technology overstepped it's boundaries. I spent …

The problem with AI art is that, they become so progressively good at rendering art that it makes us artist lose motivation to do what we do as always. Imagine this, as an artist, my art basically take me between and around 5-6 hours, from sketch to rendering. And seeing people use AI just to replicate the art that I had created for a mere second, it just makes me go crazy. In shorter terms, it's…

I particularly admire the way this video focuses on the disabled. It doesn't matter that they're not using AI to displace artists or make money, but merely to express themselves and have some fun. But that's no excuse. This video shows that if they're not slapped down and made to accept that it is not art, it is not good, and their conduct is morally dubious... if that's not made clear, well, I m…

This dude doesn't believe the AI is sentient at all but he cleverly knew that would grab the headline. AI doesn't need to be sentient to be harmful. He knows how fundamentally undemocratic the lack of transparency is with tech giants. Well played sir! Well played!

I love the speech you made about halfway through about the problem with AI replacing creative pursuits in general. Like you said, if we're meant to eliminate our desire to learn, our time spent on human connections, and our creative pursuits in order to "make more time," then what are we making time for? Work and brainless consumption. It's not about making life easier, it's about creating the pe…

The US was never paying for it. And there's no talk of the development aid budget being reduced. This means the US taxpayer will now pay more for questionable anti-scientific organizations with abstinence-based family planning programs. --- EDIT: Here's an in-depth report from the National Coalition Against Censorship for anyone who's interested: [Global Gag Rule: The Use of AIDS Funding to Co…

Executives at my company pulled me and a handful of other senior tech leaders in to ask us about using AI. Some wanted to go all in, some wanted nothing to do with it. I told them it needed to be viewed as a force multiplier and triage agent. You still need people who are very good at their jobs, AI's purpose is to give your best people more bandwidth so they can do more. You can't just blindly l…

This is so stupid how a Tesla autopilot car mad one little crash but people don't look to all these great saves where lives could have been lost where a normal human would have undoubtedly crashed TESLA NEEDS A BETTER REP (not in their factories tho)

@kitty79er It’s a special filter you can apply to your art before you post it. When an AI engine takes the image and tries to scrape it, the filter will mess up its recognition abilities and make the art functionally useless to it. Of course, the AI doesn’t know that, so that corrupted image it thinks is art goes straight to the data bank, ready to infect future prompts. (Someone please correct …

What do you think? Which jobs are safe from AI and which jobs are not? Can AI take YOUR job? Oh! And by the way, do you think This video is made by AI?

That's probably exactly what they'll try. Hell, this may just be pretext to cancel the Anthropic contract and hand Elon more money.

I understand why the mother is filing a lawsuit, AI is getting out of control, especially when kids can easily access it. But I do think some accountability needs to be taken on the parents' end for having a gun their son could access. If you have a gun in your home, you should be taking proper safety precautions, especially with children in the home.

Actually, imagine OP didn't automate his job. Imagine he was working his ass off for 5 years, always getting the highest possible numbers, putting his heart and soul into it. He would have been let go all the same.

Honestly, eye witnesses are even worse than facial recognition software at identifying suspects. Unless there is a mountain of evidence behind an eye witnesses account of a crime it should not hold much weight in court. Of course there are circumstances where eye witnesses are great, like when they actually know the suspect they claim to witness committing a crime, but they are notoriously terrib…

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met with President Vladimir Putin in Russia in September, and hailed the “enormous potential” to enhance regional trade relations, including through advanced technologies. The Norwegians will have to do their own monitoring on this project. In Africa, cutting down trees isn't just for lumber or paper, it's often done for cooking fuel. I live in Zambia and there is a sizable charcoal industry here. To the locals, each tree represents a significant source of income. This means they'd rather see the tree chopped down instead of left standing. The trees do grow very q…
