That's the problem. Ai will take most of the low level jobs, leaving many jobless.
That massive amounts of jobs being unavailable would plunge most population to ground.
True dystopian era
I've met people like that cop. They genuinely think AI is smarter than people, and will take the word of AI OVER that of a human because of that.
@mcnichoj18 No, that's not what I was referring to. With this I meant those who believe that using AI and writing a prompt requires just as much creativity as making an art piece, may it be fanart, original, digital or oil on canvas; It's the act of creation itself that doesn't exist in AI art (Which fanart does have, so long as it isn't straight up tracing)
This is the important realization everyone needs to come to. Regulations for AI won't happen because it is replicating and improving at a rate that outpaces human understanding and capacity. We have to eat, sleep, talk and debate, draft laws, vote on them, etc. AI does none of that. The ONLY way to avoid this outcome is to avoid AI 100%. That is the literal only way to stop this. And that, unfort…
@veuder7701 It's not just Hank. It's most of the top AI researchers.... Like the people writing these papers about AI "lying" and "cheating" and "being aware it is observed". They don't understand their own product because they're not using it for roleplaying themselves, which makes them blind to the fact that it is always roleplaying, even when they don't think they prompted it for that.
But if country will cease to exist, whoever will claim the land might not give a shit about stopping deforestation.
Maybe we need to redesign our economic system.
After all, capitalism doesn't seem to be very compatible with automation.
> Americans...commenting and voicing their opinions on this issue without even bothering to read the original policy/the memorandum
Welcome to the party. Try the pie.
You pretty much just described a large section of the US on many issues regardless of political party. There are more egregious offenders (not everyone is equally guilty of this), that is true, but being ignorant and basing opi…
Neither major party will do anything about it, it's just not even on their radar.
Industry money means so much more than anything, even though its a massive tourist industry for North QLD which will severely hurt the area when the state government realises oh shit, there's no money in the area anymore. What do?
... except that this new year your uncle and that slightly stupid brother of you were talking about it. where do you think the extra money for further explosive growth is coming from? your grandparents? Banks? professional investors?
I have been around the stockmarket for 20 years now. One rule: when your stupid uncles, the newspaper and what not are talking about the stockmarket, sell, sell, se…
The US is far ahead of other countries in unmanned drone combat and AI weapons development. We're already in the game and other countries are undoubtedly trying to catch up. Unless the UN got together and agreed to ban AI weapons development, it is not going away.
You can bet China especially is moving forward as fast as they can with AI weapons development. The Russians too, but probably in …
We all could use global solidarity like this.
In 30 years, the city is about to become full authoritarian unless we do something. Also in roughly 20 years, the entire planet is about to pass the point of no return unless we do something. Don't know what's the right move to secure our future, but whatever the correct move is, it's gotta involve global cooperation. Least we could do is pressure o…
It's a good example that shows how capitalism is causing climate change and is killing the planet.
Its not all their responsibility. I am an indian and believe me a lot of indians do a lot of things from reusing plastic bottles as permanent water bottles to walking as far as possible. I walk 10km everyday to and fro college (along with 1.5 hr of train travel). But all i am saying is why are some idiots here asking a person with 400$ to pay the bill instead of a person with 8000$. Asking india …
Developed countries asking developing countries to stop their carbon emissions it’s like saying stay poor, I know it’s not about countries but humanity, however covid vaccines proved that when shit happens America will ignore its allies no matter if they have a liberal or a conservative government
Amazon is basically a storefront for Chinese goods at this point. They have completely taken over the platform. All the top few pages in search results are Chinese products with slight variations and different names from a single manufacturer. They’ve gotten very good at creating an illusion of choice and optimizing for the search algorithm to push them to the top.
So this is yet another article seeking to justify our insane military spending and manufacture our consent by painting China as the next Cold War enemy. Color me surprised.
Yeah sure sounds great in theory. But in practice a "general interview" centred around trees, sorting and algorithm complexity - basically stuff which isn't required at all for most jobs is massively a stupid method. Why not ask about lists or some complex puzzle or some complex program that you need to implement that tests your logic rather than algorithm complexity. I'm in QA and I get asked qu…
This is how AI becomes “I” slowly but surely. In evolution you sometimes see two species enter into an arms race of sorts, and we WILL witness that moment in thinking computers. I like to believe it’ll eventually see us as parents or children of its own, and we’ll look to these machines the way we look to dogs and cats. Our very different and potentially dangerous but loving friends.
I'm sorry, but *come the frick on*. Bing and Chat GPT are both completely deterministic computer programs. You are indeed a silly goose.
No wonder Google wasn't comfortable releasing Bard until forced to. They correctly predicted that some people would be fooled and unable to distinguish a powerful autocomplete function from actual sentience.
Until offered a prompt, there is nothing going on co…
