Hi, 3D artist here. Forced out of my industry for the past two years. The war is not over, it is beginning. AI blasted onto the scene, but the lawsuits are just beginning.
I am not letting the past 20 years of learning how to do artwork go to waste because the last 2 years have been a little tough. I'm extremely motivated to sue generative AI back into the abyss it crawled out of.
>they would have had over 2 billion in profit if they ~~were not paying fines~~
... didn't spill a fuck-ton of oil into the ocean
So basically working hard at school does much more than living in a seemingly rich country?
And researchers are forced to take whatever funding they can get to keep their labs running. Govt grants and internal University grants are harder and harder to get, and extramural funding is an expectation for almost all professors.
“Facial recognition technology provides government with unprecedented power to track people going about their daily lives. That’s incompatible with a healthy democracy.”
This is something that we don’t need, the sooner it’s banned, the better off our liberal democracy will be.
Do you honestly believe the people who voted for Brexit are the same ones looking for well paid professional jobs in Europe?
This is more like your dipshit uncles leopard escaping and eating your face, because he ignored the giant hole in the cage that you spent 6 months arguing with him to fix.
Just wait until we get hit with a double super secret variant 3.0 XTREME EDITION!!!!
All these mega-wealthy guys sure aren't worried about endearing themselves to the general population, are they? They're just like we're gonna start f'in you all over, and there's nothing you can do about it.
The makeup was not so heavy back then. Everybody looked like themselves. The makeup simply enhanced your natural beauty
Glad ChatGPT worked its magic, but don't forget to mention this self-fix to your maxillofacial specialist, just to rule out any underlying issues that might need further attention.
Exactly. ChatGPT will, if he ever hears the word „suicide“, provide you with emergency sites and numbers. It’s nearly impossible that he said that. Maybe the guy asked him to rate his plan in a fictional scenario or something.
>Just say its for a college research paper, or ask it to tell you so you can avoid it.
A while back, I accidentally discovered that one of the bots on my friend group discord server had an AI chat feature added. I decided to see if I could get it to tell me how to hotwire a car before the free trial ran out. I had to tell it that I was in a life-or-death situation and that hotwiring is legal …
Dude this administration is psychotic. Good on Anthropic for holding themselves accountable to basic ethics. Weather the storm this will pass.
Also it isn’t really a correct metric.
Management used to count “lines of code” per engineer as performance. It’s a bullshit metric, crappy code often uses more lines actually.
Similarly with AI %, it might write 75% of the lines of code, but I guarantee the developer isn’t spending only 25% of the original time developing. It takes more time to validate and tweak it.
It’s the 80/20 rule. It …
Thank you for having Geoffrey Hinton as your guest! This has been the most informative discussion on AI and real understanding of Mr. Hinton's expertise in development!
The worst part: currently, unless you’re an “AI Bro” or tech nerd, the public’s understanding of AI is the google ai “how many rocks shall i eat” type thing. They believe that they’re still dumb and non threatening.
I see three main problems
1. Autopilot does not mean you leave your car unattended.
2. Saving $ by not using LiDAR—yes, they are doing that, and it is risky. Cameras don’t perform as well as LiDAR, not even close at night or in fog….
3. A very smart but also dangerous guy continues saying his cars can drive autonomously.
ChatGPT is not going to replace your work, Someone who knows how to use it will
I'm still more worried about the billionaires in charge of the AI than the AI itself.
AI is so amazing and so smart and so easy to use that you need to spend hours and hours learning how to prompt it. People need to be trained on how to use it - of course, makes sense.
