Verge? The shitification of the Internet happened a long long time ago. It used to be that every website was unique and interesting in its own way. Now... Everything is a carbon copy of its competition trying to sucker you out of a few bucks. Vying for SEO so we get these long rambling preambles that add negative value to the user experience. Even Reddit has become this bastion of reposts. Like y…
Everybody is so quick to jump to the "intelligence" part...when that couldn't be further from the truth with a LLM. It's like going to McDonald's and ordering an oil change.
I think everyone is missing the point. AI companies are trying to convince their customers to buy their AI products. Their marketing departments come up with "Hey we are replacing our workers with AI you can too!". This has nothing to do with whether they are replacing software engineers or not (I mostly suspect not). It's a marketing strategy.
aaaaaand uninstalled!

a contractor who never wanted to have to be a contractor in the first place, who was already laid off once in favor of AI, and who is sick to death of greedy tech companies treating people like shit
"extremely competent idiots". my experience would describe them the opposite. completely incompetent geniuses. it can implement complex algorithms in seconds, translating fluidly between languages, but it's gonna transpose x/y no matter how hard you tell it to knock it off, and it's gonna make incredibly dumb choices and couldntly consistently design a class heiarchy or maintainable design to s…
That kinda sucks for me bc I like writing my essays in an outline in a separate document and then copy and pasting the parts I want to keep into a fresh doc to turn in. Like sometimes I will write things a few different ways and keep the one that works best. I did that before AI though
Seems like it is within her rights to sue the Fargo Police department as well as the AI company that mistakenly identified her.
If corporations are to be considered people under citizens united, they need to be held to the same standards as people.
watching this robot makes me want to grab a bat and smash her smug face right in..
It's dangerous to assume that generative AI will improve rapidly. The low hanging fruit has already been exploited. Progress is becoming exponentially harder.
It won’t be AI to replace humans, it will be some greedy people to make it do so.
With all due respect, every time I hear the words 'AI' and 'safety' in the same sentence, I can only smile...
been using GPTHuman AI for that, works great to bypass ai detectors. super chill to use, no complex steps, and it makes the text sound real enough to slide past checks easily
> So black people didn't reoffend at a higher rate, yet the AI still developed a bias? Am I reading you right?
No, I don't think that's the right reading. The problem wasn't about differences in reoffense rates, it was about differences in the algorithm's error rates. For example, the AI wrongly predicted that black people would reoffend way more often than it wrongly predicted that white peo…
>The San Francisco Board of Supervisors on Tuesday enacted the first ban by a major city on the use of facial recognition technology by police and all other municipal agencies.
Good. This technology is widely used in China to further perpetuate their police state.
“This excellent review demonstrates that the massive hype over AI in medicine obscures the lamentable quality of almost all evaluation studies,” he said. “Deep learning can be a powerful and impressive technique, but clinicians and commissioners should be asking the crucial question: what does it actually add to clinical practice?”
I’d like to see the reasonable threat argument when a robot unloads 38 rounds into someone.
Thanks /u/Prymu, here's what I think about you! Based on your comments, you seem to have a wide array of interests, ranging from aviation and PC gaming to memes and piracy. When commenting, you tend to keep things short and to the point, often making humorous or sarcastic remarks. You seem like a laid-back and witty person who enjoys poking fun at seemingly serious topics. Your writing style is c…
This thread will soon be full of the same stupid talking point about how AI will do a better job than humans, since marvel sucks.
Seriously? Try it for yourself. I challenge you to prompt AI to write something actually original and actually funny. It doesn’t do that. It’s not intelligent or creative. That’s what humans do.
Also, if you’re arguing for AI replicants to take their jobs, that’s co…
Its funny how the dream was to create a world where we could all be creative, but the first thing we automate out are creative jobs. Bravo.
This may well be the case in the future if AI is ever created. But I’ll say this. Again.
Current “AI” is all smoke and mirrors. It’s impressive tech, for sure, but it just is not intelligence and it just is not a technology that can evolve into intelligence.
It’s word prediction based on pattern matching. It’s a parrot, but less. Consider that a century of research into the human brain still …
