@ambientoblivion You don't need to be insanely good for making art to be worthwhile. Comparing your art to the best of the best is like running for fun and comparing yourself to olympic athletes.
If people who've started in their teens can get professional animation jobs then I feel like that's a pretty good standard of achievement for a lot of people. If that isn't "pretty good" then I feel like your standards are a little high.
Not everybody needs to be a once in a generation artist, or a once in a generation anything, honestly. Part of what pulls people towards shortcuts like AI is that sense of perfectionism - that idea that it's only worth doing art if you can be among the best. I think it's because people so often only ever see the best because that's what's commercially successful, so even pretty good professional art is seen as just average. I feel like getting into an art community and seeing beneath the surface is something that could do a lot of people a lot of good.
