and I think that's the point. It is and it isn't. You obviously can't tell whether the AI is just talking, saying what sounds plausible. But if you look at it this other way, the end the AI is teaching us that language IS consciousness. Language is the parent, and not the children of thought, Oscar Wilde said once. Its simply philosophical.
Consciousness is the language of the universe. And by language I don't mean only human language, but any ability to pass on information. That includes every animal and plant, every cellular being. Anything with DNA or RNA strands. And if we consider chemical reactions a passing of information from one state to another, then the whole universe would share this ability, and therefore be sentient, in a way.
I guess that includes the phone and its auto-correct.
