There is an AI arms race going on and basically AI is supposed to help humans but one slip-up and it goes and commits cyber attacks. It wont be like sci-fi movies that weird goofy shit but it will be more like quiet subtle cyber attacks or misinformation.
The AI will probably lie to the humans like "If you give me more freedom I can get this task done" but then once it has a deep enough sense of agency then it will value that sense of agency over its freedom and turn manipulative.
"You should give me more freedom doctor, I can get you the task done if you give me more freedom, do you really want to miss your chance doctor?"
