Ai isn't 5 years old. It ranges from automatic doors to llms. So yes it has helped humanity but you didnt notice it because it wasn't easily accessible to the basic user. Now it is with llm, but the thing is that llm is still narrow ai and is not the same ai as say alphafold, which singlehandedly discovered all 200 million protein structures back in 2020, making 30 years of PhD work that discovered a measly 150k protein structured look miniscule.
So yes, ai has helped humanity and is still helping humanity.
AI is only a tool, for now at least. Why are you expecting it to tackle global problems? Why are you not demanding your government that? You're shifting the blame on the product, not the producer, which is quite ridiculous if you ask me
