@djyottasee even in your scenario it gets weird and where the lawyers would have to take over because it can definitely be argued that the code was distributed (to 1 person) who was a paying customer for the AI. With that in mind, if the AI altered the code at all (as it's likely to do) that code still needs to be released and available under GPL. The source was provided to the one person yes, but not released in open source by the spirit of the GPL. Argument being it made a derivative of the GPL code, distributed it and no one else is allowed to have it, thus not open source. It could still count as a violation depending on how the courts rule and I've seen cases go sideways for worse reasons. That said the argument could go the other way as well if they followed your arguement.(All mistakes are my own fault for typing on my phone)
