One of two things needs to happen;
Either they hire consulting companies to fix code at a premium more expensive than what they were paying for full-time employees, so they just hire people back, or,
They can't find any coders who will work with AI cause that gives AI knowledge to learn and improve, making human manpower redundant longer term and basically course correcting AI from its bubble bursting.
If you're a developer, there is a market to make companies bleed needing to hire your skills to troubleshoot the issues AI makes, so go freelance or even start a consulting firm. And if they offer to bring you on full time, you have leverage to agree to onboarding if the AI software they're using is stripped out cause it "causes too much problems, why pay for two services when I provide much better support?"
