@joechip4822 I'd say intentionality is the biggest factor to consider whether something is ""real art"" (and I'm using this term loosely) or not as opposed to skill and effort even though these tend to correlate. With AI there's always a certain degree of "Oh, it did it like _that."_ It's this "randomness" factor that makes it hard to tell the work is somehow an inherent extension of the artist's intent and personality. It then at best makes the machine itself the artist and not the prompter. But the machine doesn't have sentience (yet) and so cannot take accountability for the artistic and creative choices it made in the place of the prompter. That of course will vary depending on how much input or human control was put into the piece and it exists within a blurry spectrum, but if we are to try to add the maximum amount of control as possible to it, at that point AI either becomes so frustrating to work with or just misses the point that some AI Art defenders make about using it for mass industrialized image generation with zero human interference instead of personalizing the result as you want to. With Photoshop or traditional art you still retain an immense sense of control over the final result. With AI? Not so much. It is why I would have less of a problem if this technology was instead brain-computer interfacing technology that reads the user's mind to guide the process of the image generation with detail on a line by line scale or even pixel by pixel scale.
And I make traditional art, if that's of any relevance.
