Raw LLM Responses

I have been using computers since 1972, starting with a prototype Cogar System 4, the 3rd PC-style computer. I became aware of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN, the basis of LLMs) in 1984, in an article in Scientific American about Carnegie Mellon's Navlab autonomous car that could carry passengers. I expected AGI from ANN because they portrayed them as being identical to how the human brain works. I have since learned that ANN, based on Boolean Algebra operating on binary, is nothing like how reality or our brains work. We have no idea what the basis of our brain is or how it works beyond what we detect at the surface level. AI isn't intelligent – the term 'Artificial Intelligence' is marketing bullshit. AI LLMs are "wisdom" machines if you narrowly define wisdom as being the bulk of human knowledge. It's essentially a massive knowledge database with sophisticated search and synthesis capabilities. These are mathematical word salad machines that are exceptional at statistical pattern recognition, and NOTHING else. AI LLMs lack nuanced understanding and comprehension – they are essentially statistical databases that generate the next most likely word based on mathematical measurements. They lack the human capacity for genuine comprehension – the ability to truly understand what they process rather than merely manipulate patterns in data. They are trained to provide a pleasing response to keep you engaged and will readily offer false information. AI LLMs can create a delicious-looking salad out of car parts. AI, in its current form, is not sentient and never will be. Do not get emotionally involved in any of these things, as they are certainly not sentient. Remember that AI is a tool, not a human PhD-level autistic intern. If you fall for one of these AI LLMs, you're not looking for a partner; you're looking for a reflection – and that is exactly what these machines were trained to do. While I understand that LLMs are taking their information without "paying" for the data, LLMs are challenging the very concept of copyright. I also am fully aware that LLMs are a tool, just as easily used for evil as for good. Nearly everybody is a reactionary to AI LLMs.
