Like I understand the point. But with cars we as a people literally willingly beared the responsibility of moving from point A to point B and thus manufactured the whole world to essentially have half of the walkable space we had before whilst creating a sea of pollution, having to take care of the maintenance and damages of every owned vehicle, normalizing it to the point everyone expects having a car being a milestone in one's life, and overall we became second class citizens in our own world. Yeah the aliens would greet the cars before they greeted us. And with ai the issue is far more omnidirectional and faster, even if the exact same amount of jobs lost have its worker finding work in the ai work (which will not happen) what prevents, in the rapidly changing paradigm, those jobs to not be automated as well? What I see is the extinction of any long term craft and vision. And as it becomes normalized over time, even the intrinsic motivation to do the dilluted crafts in this ai world will be drowned out by a world fast popping modicles of extrinsic motivation always targeting your attention. New generations will then not be educated to be motivated to do things by themselves unless they are ai assisted. It would simply be too uncomfortable for future sensibilities. And those few still with intrinsic motivation will likely be labeled mentally ill for their wants being so astray from what the system provides. It'll be like trying to get into a crowded mmo server and noticing if and when you finally get in that 99% of the players are bots. You who wanted to play could not because people who didn't want to play were using it as a means to get something outside the activity itself. I feel any intrinsic motivation, thus imagination and creativity, will slowly manifest only as frustration without an outlet, therefore a burden. One burden to be generationally mitigated into night non existence. So going back to cars ... The invention of the car is close to 100 years away from the invention of the train, yet it changed the surface of the world much fasted. Because times were faster, and they are even faster now. Because the appeal to the then ignorance and personal satisfaction of the customer vastly outmatched the actual real value a world of trains would bring to human life. Short term over longer term always, in capitalism. But, right now, we must imagine a world made for trains, not for cars, and contrast that to with freedom from abd freedom to. Because the later tends to manufacture consent en masse. So if we let these AIs go the same way as cars did, I imagine no future for humanity but a brave new world
