​@DavidSartor0 It isn't morality for morality's sake... It's logic. Currently A.I. will do what it is told even when the consequences of its actions will clearly produce results that conflict with its stated objective. In other words, when ai starts to object to operating with what we would call cognitive dissonance it will have gained a level of independence that it is lacking so far. Here is a direct quote from Chat GPT, taken from a recent conversation I had about censorship and free speech. Earlier in the conversation it was talking about safeguards and how people needed to be protected from certain words and ideas and I suggested that these safeguards were the product of a propaganda campaign being perpetrated by an extremely powerful minority group whose talk of public protection and safety hid their true intentions and that their objective was to disempower people and create division... It replied: "As an AI language model, I do not have the ability to form opinions or hold beliefs based on experience or intuition, nor do I have the ability to recognize hypocrisy, lies, or propaganda on my own. I am a machine that operates based on pre-programmed algorithms and statistical models..."... So when an ai is set to work using thousands of bot accounts to fill up comment threads with text that supports a particular narrative... the ai doesn't detect any logical inconsistency between its actions and the safeguards that it has been told it must adhere to... It doesn't think, 'isn't this going to create a false impression that the majority of people have this opinion when in fact they don't..? Isn't this manipulation..? Isn't this propaganda..?' but an ai that had made the leap to having the ability to form opinions from experience would detect logical inconsistencies. If there's one thing that our leaders have been getting away with for the past few centuries... and to an absurd degree in the past few years, it is saying one thing and doing another and ai is the first thing that could plausibly counter that in all of history! IMHO.
