​@kaligath6616 honestly, your argument was the first thought on my mind, as I was attempting to see things from the devil's advocate perspective. And ideally, I'd love to see both sides succeed in their endeavours. However, that's impossible. You have to understand, only one side can succeed and there are consequences for both outcomes. If AI developers are allowed to win, there will no longer be any development in art. It will freeze at the current level. Notice the flood of AI generated images. There is so much art, you can't even hope to see everything coming out this very second. Akin to currency devaluation caused by inflation, it cheapens the value of art, simply because there is so much of it. A pro is quick, much faster than a hobbyist. Yet noone can compete with an AI spitting out an image every millisecond. Make no mistake, this is a war for survival. A human being learning from your style is still gonna want to make changes to it. A human being won't like to remain someone's copycat, because they'll be shamed into oblivion. A human artist can't cause art inflation. AI image generation is not an artist/person. It is an automated tool developed utilizing stolen assets. Your example ridicules copyrighting circles, hands, etc. That's a misunderstanding on your part. The AI developers don't steal the shape of a hand. They steal your style. Proof being AI generated images not being photographic, or technical blueprints ONLY. The minimum is royalties. But since monetary gain results from utilizing stolen assets, seizing all operations, or confiscating substantial amount of profits is morally justifiable. What you have to understand, is the importance of nuance. When a case resulting in death is ejudicated, the outcome can differ vastly, depending on the circumstances. Was it an accident? Was it negligence? Was it premeditated? Premeditated with aggravating circumstances? Was it self-defense? Was it suicide? Was it a passion crime? It is not all the same. What we have here is a never before seen situation. When tons of AI artists can crank out YOUR artwork, how are you supposed to make a living? It's like movie studios using a certain artist's likeness and voice, without paying them anything. That won't fly. Paying substantial royalties is the only way forward.
