Every form of fanart is illegal. Of course, selling fanart that you made of a character or IP that you don't personally own is obviously illegal, but not just that. If you make a fanart of that famous italian plumber, you don't own that art, even though you made it. If you post it on Twttr or whatever, Nntndo can just take it down. Artists love to blame AI art for breaking copyright law, except they've been doing the exact same for YEARS. Why don't companies just do that then? Because it would be bad publicity and fanart is free advertising.
And first off, not everyone who uses AI is an "aI brO". Some people like making cool images for personal use. Personally I'm excited to see how useful the various forms of AI (voice, music, images) will become in the future. AI voices can already be extremely useful for making mods for Bthsda games.
