The issue with AI in programming is that programming is not coding, and that's what AI does. Programming is the REASONING that comes BEFORE the code, programming is problem solving NOT code. Many beginners will confuse programming to be coding and they'll think "oh yeah this is easy, I'll just learn with ChatGPT", but then they try to build a project on their own and realize that they know NOTHING. Because, learning programming is not reading the answer that ChatGPT gives you, learning programming is GETTING TO THE ANSWER YOURSELF. Reading the answer will not teach you the same as if you had figured out the answer on your own, by figuring it out you not only build the coding skills of programming, you also build the core skill that is needed for programming, PROBLEM SOLVING. If you genuinely want to build useful software development skills, AI is the worst possible thing to use. Now, will you have to use it? Absolutely, AI is here to stay, but it does not replace you because AI still sucks at problem solving. No matter how much AI there is, it does not remove the core aspect of your job, which is to solve problems. As a developer you are not paid to solve bugs or to code, you are paid to solve problems and design solutions to those problems.
This is why, AI is very frowned upon for learners, because it gives you a false sense of learning and makes you think that coding is all there is when in reality you also have to know how to problem solve and apply that problem solve, the skill that AI cannot replace.
