@florianschneider3982 first off, I don't believe that will ever happen. New models are already nearly prohibitively expensive to train and they still can't even find bugs on their own. They hallucinate, lie, and cheat. Plus we continue to have massive privacy/confidentiality/safety problems. It usually takes researchers a few days to find examples after the release of new versions. I don't think it will ever be financially viable to replace a senior engineer.
But if they can, great. Then we can even more fully approach the living conditions found in feudalism or the industrial revolution while tech investors siphon off all non-essential resources to live in luxury never before seen on earth. How is that better?
There will be some areas where ai is valuable, just probably not the big LLMs everyone's excited about.
The faster humanity understands the real boundaries of AI, the better.
