@georgeerhard1949 So someone sends a fake signal to you that a vehicle is right in front of you so your car slams on the brake, perhaps getting you rear ended in the bargin.
This is too suspectable to malious actors. Also, the truly autonomous vehicle still has to deal with bicycles, pedestrians, children, dogs, dear, etc, none of which will ever have a transponder.
