@gundoxcrit1652 Agree to disagree my friend. Obviously, I have more hopes in humanity than you. My personal experience is that I was always well informed of the limitations and the delays. Did Elon's comment gave me hope ? Of course they did... Was I pissed when said deadlines passed without fsd being completed ? Of course I was. But at no time did I complete a transaction with something written in a contract that was not there. Only the words of an overly optimistic CEO said otherwise and I'm perfectly ok with that. To quote him directly: I prefer that he's optimistic and wrong than pessimistic and right.
I mean 40 years ago, Bill Gates told me that 640kb will be enough for anyone and now my computer has 100,000x more RAM than that... Should I sue him ? 20 years ago, Blackberry told me that it would be the last phone I would ever buy... Guess what, I bought like 15 after that. Should I sue them ? There are hundreds of such example. It's marketing or overly optimistic execs (Musk is not alone...). When I bought my first Tesla back in 2017, I remember saying to my friends that I didn't even think that fsd would be solved during my ownership if this particular car. Go see for yourself, use the wayback machine of the internet archive to see Tesla's site from these years. Please do the distinction between Autopilot, Enhanced Autopilot and Full Self driving capability back then. Back in 2016 the site described the possibilities of Enhanced Autopilot and the very next sentence is: "That said, Enhanced Autopilot should still be considered a driver's assistance feature with the drive responsible for remaining in control of the car at all times". You had to read that before spending your money on it. If people didn't read that, they should own their choice. Pleading dumbness should not be encouraged...At all...
The name autopilot refers to aviation and in aviation this system hold an altitude, direction and needs supervision, nothing more FSD is different and is the evolution of autopilot but is not what is being discussed here. What they did promise and not deliver is that they said that the full self driving hardware was already present on all model starting in 2016. That turned out to be false and they upgraded all the hardware 2 and 2.5 cars that had the option to hardware 3 and then again, hardware 3 will most likely not be able to achieve fsd. THAT is a broken promise and Tesla should and will be held accountable for it.
