It's not about if the pedestrian should be walking there, but why the car failed to brake if sensors have way more range than the human eye and computers act ridiculously faster than the human brain. Nobody is negating responsibility, it was just a wake up call to remind the IT sector that autonomous cars are still in the "student driver" phase and promising "full autonomy by 2024" or something is ridiculous.
