+S Avgoulis, if you can't get the hang of simple mathematics, it won't kill anyone (generally speaking) but if you let your guard down or are unlucky once with a car, lives can be lost.
The problem here is as a driver, the fault is usually yours unless a pedestrian/cyclist/anyone actively puts you in a position you can't make a rational calculated decision for (such would be the argument in a court of law). In this scenario, the car and driver couldn't see the jaywalker until it was too late. Was that their fault? Of course not! Given the time of day, the speed limit, general well-known laws about jaywalking and the short timing of this issue, any human driver would have been unable to swerve and not hit that jaywalker.
Autonomous vehicles have a lower fatality and accident rate than human drivers. You only have to look at autonomous factories to realise why the nation benefits.
