@lennyfps It doesn't stutter, but it did often repeat words. They analysed human speech and found that most people do it often, and thought that this would help hide the processing time better than saying "um" each time. Newer versions seem to just wait longer before begining to speak which ends up feeling more natural overall. People don't want the AI to emulate us too closely, it enter uncanny valley teritory when it stumbles too much in it's speech because you go in to the interaction with the knowledge that it is a machine, and our understanding of machines doesn't prime us to expect human like natural speech from it, so when it delivers something closer to the real thing in a way that's still noticably artificial it triggers an uncomfortable feeling that something isn't quite how it should be.
This will continue to be a problem for early consumer robotics and voice AI systems, but the solution is simply to make them more "robotic" and people will be impressed by small touches of humanity like proper tone for expressive statements and occasionally using colloquial definitions and idioms instead of formal ones. Anything more than that doesn't really serve the end goal of most robotics projects, except that for some reason quite a lot of them hope to specifically emulate humans even though hardly anybody wants that amd the people who do maybe don't want them for the best reasons.
Robots are great for doing things we don't want to do, those things are naturally things we aren't well suited to. It stands to reason then that the ideal design for a robot is anything other than human, since we already have humans.
Maybe it needs to be human shaped to interact with out environment, or maybe it needs human like communication so that people can commumicate with it directly, but I think there's a hard limit not far beyond that where becoming more human-like makes a robot less useful.
