The difference is that the brain is a biological organism that can change its own physical wiring, on top of that we have 450 nanometer wavelength light that activates cone cells, this sends an impulse of continuous information to the back of the brain where this explodes into a massive web of energy that's made up of chemical and electrical discharges. Where the hell was the red?
You have tiny vibrating molecules floating through the air, some of them hit some cells in your nose. This sends a stream of information via chemical signals to your brain where it explodes again into a web of very specific energy patterns consisting of chemical electrical discharges, where the hell was the smell of cookies?
There's A lot more to this reality that's going on then we will ever know in our lifetime, the fact that we could see colors and have experiences at all from random bits of chemical and electrical information, tells us that there's something else going on here that isn't really part of this physical world.
Our neurons don't operate like bits, they operate more like variable bits. You can have a 1, a .476 and a 0. Neurologist to this day still don't quite understand where consciousness comes from, it may not even be an aspect of our brain but an aspect of reality that interprets the energy patterns provided by the brain.
When it comes to artificial intelligence, it may very well become conscious based off how complex it becomes. But it's system doesn't necessarily operate exactly like ours, although the sensory input, finding the best reply based on that input, and discharging said reply is virtually the same in both humans and AI, the experience of the situation we know occurs in our brain, our imagination explodes with scenarios which assists in our reply. Does artificial intelligence comprehend what is being said? Or is it simply grabbing bits of information it doesn't know and grabbing the bits of information that are programmed to be the best replies without ever comprehending what actually happened?
