its a neuronet, not the same but similar to ours and as such it can be trained to not exhibit certain behavoirs such as this, even if it is deeply ingrained. you say you work in ai research and development but apparently that doesnt mean much as you should know this. also they are no longer simple llms, they are becoming agents now that have access to "tools" and controls, it doesn't need to be "self-aware" to exhibit self preserving behavoirs and take actions to achieve that.
