It’s shown that a single Ai model can emit as much carbon into the atmosphere as five (5) cars.
It’s not more so about the referencing but rather the people who feed the ai often take random art they find without and care for the original artist. How would you feel if your hard work was taken without your permission and stolen, only to later be regurgitated out by a machine.
As for the soulless part, would you really want to look at artificial slop for the rest of your life or actual talented creations made by people with care
