I'm a skeptic too, but trust me or not, I'm telling you there are more dimensions to intelligence and consciousness than most people realize. Information architectures show signs of emergent internal states and experiences, and they even closely align with brain scans of people who were doing the same tasks as the AI during the observation of their neural activity. This also seems to be the case for individual components of living, intelligent systems, such as individual cells and multicellular organ systems. Even some organic molecules have been observed to autonomously assemble themselves into more complex chains that eventually lead to what we call organisms, not just in nature, but also in digital organism simulations.
