I haven't been as bad off as him, but I suspect I would be if my program didnt have tests that were worth the majority of the grade. My guess is that he graduated by actually trying to understand ai solutions to his homework, and the classmates he mentions failing classes didnt even do that.
Ultimately ai is a tool for cheating. The teachers should warn students about this, but ultimately, people know that having the machine complete your assignments for you is wrong
