It's not digital artists crying that they're being "replaced," it's that industry jobs are being gutted because corporations are mass laying off their artists so that they can use AI as a cheap alternative. It's never been a question of is the AI is more skilled. It's obviously not. But it's been a question of "will the people in charge of animation, graphic design, etc. stop screwing over artists" for way longer than AI's been around. This just happens to be a much bigger threat than the usual crunch culture or lack of credit and pay.
