@jeremymcmahon9546I keep seeing this argument that people who “don’t understand the potential” from people who dont understand the technology. Machine learning has not been shown to improve exponentially with more data/ more nodes but logarithmically at best(sometimes it performs worse).
Now I’m not saying there’s a huge potential for the concept of ai, if we get agi working it would be larger then the industrial revolution imo. But the path we’re currently taking with llms and machine learning has been shown time and time again that it has limits at scale, yet we are getting promises from investors and crypto bosses that it will scale to infinity, not engineers.
Now machine learning is a great tool, my issue with it is people thinking it will actually replace positions not making those positions more productive or a product more accurate/better quality. LLMs aren’t reliable to be standalone only with heavy assistance and there is no indicator that it will ever be different.
